There's a popular commercial on about "protecting your number." That is, the number of dollars you'll need at retirement. The commercial features people carrying around their number, their number getting beat up and so on.
I recently heard a couple of businessmen talk about another number. Every day they write on the top of their to-do list the number of days they have left assuming they live to 75. It serves as a reminder that life is short and you need to make every moment count.
Moses said, "Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." (Psalm 90:12)
As of today, if I live to be 75, I have 12,670 days left to live. I have lived a total of 14,705 days. That's sobering...I have theoretically lived half my life already.
How about you? How would it change your life to figure out your number?
